Today our SC has delivered an important verdict holding 27 percent reservation for OBC quoto but kept out "Creamy Layer" from OBC category.
Now question should arise what is this so called "Creamy Layer" ?
The answer is :
Children of constitutional functionaries including the President, judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, members of the Union Public Service Commission, Groups A and B or Class I or II officers of the All-India Central and State services and children of public sector employees will come under "Creamy Layer".
Is SC given a right verdict ? Will our political parties accept and implement this verdict ? For all these questions, we will get answer in comming months.
Do we need reservation at first place ?
My answer is "yes". But it should not be on the basis of caste, but it should be based on annual income of that family and their luxuary level.
Present system denies opportunities to those students who are perfectly eligible but denied because of those who are getting admission purely based of current pathetic reservation scheme.
Eventhough every one who is ruling both in central and state knows this, they wont change this quota system for fearing that it will affect their vote bank. It is the responsibility of government to bring so called backward classes on basis of caste to the limelight and improve their status. But they should not do this by curbing the right of eligible person and give it to others. They should think and implement plans to improve standard of living of so called miniorties than giving reservations on pointless basis.
Until vote bank and community politics exists in our country, this kind of stupid reservation system will exist and if not not even increase. But ultimately we are the one's going to suffer...
